Description

We bottled our 2006 Marie’s Block Syrah in December of 2007. 2006 was an almost perfect year for growing Syrah at Dry Stack Vineyard. A long, warm growing season was capped by an unusually warm October. This is a powerful wine with great mouth feel, a long finish and lots of interesting character.
This wine was aged for 14 months in French oak and bottled unfiltered and unfined.
Here are the official tasting notes:
"Inky purple/black in color with an impressive array of aromas including blackberry pie, espresso, acacia flower, crushed pepper, bacon fat and cigar box. The lush palate of blueberry, black raspberry, licorice, earth, and toasty oak continue to the intense and complex finish. A beautiful marriage of intense, yet balanced fruit, and a striking multi-layered finish"

Shows wonderful complexity, richness and depth, with deep, perfumed floral, lavender, wild berry, blackberry and spicy, leathery scents that provide a great range of flavor. Ends with a long, persistent finish. Drink now through 2014. –JL

The 2006 Marie's Block Syrah is typical of cool-climate Syrah, with a clean note of berries and spice, medium-full body, crisp acidity and just 13.5 percent alcohol by volume. It's a restrained wine, sophistication rather than showy. [the 2007 vintage was 1.35% alc, the 2006 is 15.5%+-]
